Montezuma Castle, Arizona

Montezuma Castle, the best preserved cliff dwelling in the United States and one of the most spectacular of it’s type, was built in part probably as early as 1100 A.D., and probably was deserted by 1425 A.D. It had no connection with Montezuma, leader of the Aztecs. It’s name is a misnomer which seems to have been bestowed by early white visitors.
