Daniel Fitts was a son of Benjamin Fitts (1728-1803) and Sarah (Fairfield) Fitts.


Fitz Genealogy gives his biography as follows:

Daniel Fitts and Chloe White, both of Sutton, were joined together in marriage, April 9, 1778, Pastor Jeremiah Barstow, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Sutton. They settled in Oxford, where he was a grantor or grantee of land by deed, 1789, Mar. 23; 1794, Nov. 7; 1796, Apr. 2; 1798, Mar. 12; 1812, Feb. 22; 1815, Apr. 16; 1821, Apr. 2; 1831, July 5; 1832, Jan. 9. They both died in Oxford, 1837; she, Jan. 22; age 80, and he, Feb. 13; age 84. His Will was dated Apr. 9, 1823, and presented for Probate, Aprl 4, 1837. Their children were..." (See Children).


Daniel Fitts & Chloe White were the parents of my ancestor,

  • Sally Fitts (1779-1847), born on Dec. 18, 1779, married Abijah Lamb on March 6, 1803 in Oxford, MA and died on April 12, 1847.
  • Chloe Fitts (1781-1799) born April 19, 1781, married William Henderson of Oakham, MA on Jan. 6, 1799 and died in Buffalo, NY.
  • Sophia Fitts (1783-1813), born Nov. 10, 1783, married Reuben Adams of Auburn, MA, intention filed on Oct. 2, 1813.
  • Daniel Fitts, Jr. (1785-1879), born on Jan. 6, 1785, married 1st to Lydia Livermore, daughter of Elisha and Ruth Livermore, on Jan. 17, 1808 in Auburn, MA. Married 2nd to Abigail Edwards Learned, on April 20, 1861 in Oxford, MA. He died in Dec. 1879 in Champion, NY.
  • Caroline Fitts (1786-1848), born Aug. 4, 1786 in Oxford, MA, married Joshua Burrill of Thompson, CT, died May 10, 1848, probably in Pembroke, NY.
  • Abijah Fitts, born on Sept. 1, 1788; died young.
  • John Fitts (1791-1884), born June 13, 1791 in Oxford, MA, married 1st to Eliza Green, daughter of Ebenezer Green, on Feb. 14, 1819. Eliza died on Aug. 16, 1843 in Pembroke, NY. He married 2nd to Louisa (Southworth) Vassall on Sept. 12, 1844 in Oxford, MA, and died on April 3, 1884 in Oxford, MA.
  • Roxalana Fitts, born June 23, 1792, married John Burrill, Jr. in 1814 and died in Willimantic, CT.
  • Arba Fitts (1796-1858), born on Sept. 14, 1796, married 1st to Polly Hosmer/Osmore abt. 1816. Married 2nd to Julia Wesson. He died on March 24, 1858.
  • Tirzah Fitts, born in 1800, died young.
