Biography
John Moody was a son of George Moody. He was born in 1593 in Moulton, Forest Heath District, Suffolk, England. He was christened at Moulton on April 8, 1593. He married Sarah Cox in England on September 8, 1617 and at least six children born to them died in England before they came to America in the Spring of 1633. They settled in the Massachusetts Bay Colony where he was made a freeman of Roxbury in 1633/34. He took the Oath of Fidelity on November 5, 1634. His name is honored on the founders memorial at Hartford. His will was written on July 25, 1655, and he died before December that year, at the age of 61 or 62 . He is buried in the Ancient Burying Ground in Hartford.

- Mary Deming, born abt. 1648, married John Hurlburt of Wethersfield.
- Mercy Deming, born abt. 1651, married Thomas (or Jose.) Wright of Wethersfield. She died in 1714.
- David Deming, born abt. 1652.
- Sarah Deming, born abt. 1654, married Samuel Moody of Hartford.
- Ebenezer Deming, born abt. 1659.
