Biography
John Brown was born abt. 1783 and married Nancy Wood abt. 1800-1801. There is a marriage between John Brown and Nancy Wood recorded at Sherman, Connecticut, Oct. 23, 1817, but their third child, Zadoc, was born "near Ithaca" in 1806. John appeared in Lisle, Broome County, New York, in 1809 according to local road records, and family tradition claims he was a great hunter. He lived on Lot 565 in Lisle and was an avid hunter. He died in Lisle at the age of 69, on August 9, 1852. He was 67 or 68 years old and is buried in Bemis Cemetery in Lisle, Broome County, New York.
