Middlesex County is located in the south central part of the State, with it's southern edge on the shores of the Long Island Sound. Middlesex County was formed in May of 1785, from parts of Hartford County and New London County. At the time of it's creation, the county included Saybrook, Killingworth, Middletown, Haddam, and Westbrook.

Middlesex County encompasses approximately 369 square miles* in the State of Connecticut.
