Genealogy Resources for Ontario County, New York

Ontario County was formed from part of Montgomery County in 1789. From Ontario County, the following counties were formed: Steuben County (1796), Genesee County (1802), and in 1823 Wayne County and Yates County were formed from parts of Ontario County and Steuben County. The County Seat is Canandaigua.

Ontario County encompasses approximately 644 square miles* in the State of New York.
