As we approach America's 250th Anniversary, let's not forget the brave men who were the first to join the fight for America's freedom. It was "Patriot's Day" - April 19, 1775, when the alarm went out that the British were coming, it's a good time to remember the courageous and honorable men who responded. They left their own families to defend the colony and were essentially the first to participate in the American Revolution. After the battles of Lexington, Concord, Arlington, Charlestown, Cambridge, Lincoln and Somerville, thousands of other brave patriots joined the ranks for an eventual victory the following year, winning America's independence after 150 years of British rule. Over 4,000 men from 80 companies responded to the Patriot's Day Alarm. They were from Acton, Arlington, Bedford, Beverly, Billerica, Brookline, Cambridge, Chelmsford, Concord, Danvers, Dedham, Dracut, Framingham, Lexington, Lincoln, Lynn, Malden, Needham, Newton, Reading, Roxbury, Stow, Sudbury, Watertown, Westford, and Woburn, Massachusetts.
