William Dickinson was born abt. 1791 in Walkley, Yorkshire, England. He married a woman by the name of Ann, who was born abt. 1806 in Bradfield, Yorkshire. Together they had five known children: Ann, Martha, John, Joseph, and Elizabeth Dickinson. In 1841 they lived at Woodstock Bower in Kimberworth, and he was employed as a "Tilter" (Hammersmith). In 1851 they were still in Yorkshire, counted on the Wortley district of Yorkshire. He was a Journeyman Tilter. He died at the age of 71 at Portland Street and was buried on August 25, 1864, at Burngreave Cemetery in Sheffield. (Grave #11, Section M7).
