Biography

Eli P. Dykeman, Jr., was born in Danby, Tompkins County, New York, in 1805 or 1807. He married Rachel Bush and their son, William Hiram Dykeman was born in 1831. He enlisted in the army in 1844. He was 34 years old, had hazel colored eyes, sandy brown hair, and he stood 5 ft 6.5" tall. He was a farmer. He enlisted for a five year term in the 1st Infantry, but he died three years later, in 1847. He was 40 years old.
