Biography
Vena Dykeman was the daughter of Arthur Dykeman and Olive Jacobs. She was born on September 10, 1898, in Candor, Tioga County, New York. When she was 30 years old when she married Percy Daniels. They were married on April 22, 1929 at Ithaca, New York, at the Baptist Parsonage on Utica Street, known as Tabernacle Baptist Church today. In 1930 their new family was counted on the census in Cortlandville, Cortland County, New York. In April of 1940 when the census was taken, they lived at Solon, in Cortland County, New York. Percy died later that year, on the 13th of December. He was 56 years old. He was buried at Cortland Rural Cemetery in Section 5, Lot 81. Vena married 2nd to Thomas Slate (1898-1981). She died at Highgate Manor Nursing Home in Cortland on the 5th of February, 1986.
