Biography

Zilpha Parks may have married first to a Fairchild. She was born in 1772 in Newtown, Fairfield County, Connecticut. She married in Connecticut, abt. 1792, to Eli Dykeman. Zilpha died February 4, 1856, in Candor, Tioga County, New York, at the age of 83 or 84.. She is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery in Candor.

Children of Eli & Zilpha were:

Sally, Michael, Anna C. (1800-1894), Hiram, William, Harriet (1805-1879), Eli Jr., and Julia (1811-1883). Findagrave reports also a daughter named Hannah (Dikeman) Bush (1794-1879).

(Note: Their son Michael Parks Dykeman married Roxy Cass and had eight children, including Orin F. Dykeman (1828-1916). Orin was found in Candor on every census from 1850-1915. Orin married Betsy Bogardus and had a son named Arthur Ephraim Dykeman who was born 22 June 1863 and died 10 Feb 1948 in Candor, creating some confusion when Eli Jr's also named his son Arthur, when he was born in 1871. Arthur, son of Orin, was found in Candor on several censuses. He married Anthela “Thela” Lanning on Nov. 8, 1890 at Elmira. This Arthur was a 2nd Cousin 1x removed of Vena Dykeman).

Children

Zilpha Parks & Eli Dykeman Sr were the parents of my ancestor,
