(Appendix A) Hudson Tubes – Emma mentions the Tubes, or Hudson Tubes, several times in her journal. The Hudson Tubes are tunnels which run under the Hudson River between Jersey City and New York City, for the PATH trains. The Uptown Hudson Tubes were built between 1874 and 1906 and the Downtown Hudson Tubes were built between 1906 and 1909.
