(Appendix C) Armistice - The Armistice of Compiègne was the agreement between the Allies and Germany that went into effect on November 11, 1918 at 11am, putting a stop to the fighting in World War I. On Saturday, January 4, 1919 Emma writes that she saw the fleet on the river.
