The Town of Lebanon was incorporated in October, 1700, and the First Congregational Church was organized the same year. The second church was organized in Goshen (Bozrahville), on November 26, 1729, and the third, at Leonard's Bridge (Exeter) in 1773. The Town of Columbia was formed from Lebanon and when the Congregational Church was formed in Columbia in 1720, the location was called "Lebanon Crank".
