"Solomon Leonard, a native of Vermont, served in the War of 1812 - afterwards settled in Marion, and is buried in Marion Cemetery.* *Probably a son of the Revolutionary Soldier." (Military history of Wayne County NY p243).
"Solomon Leonard had been a private in the Connecticut Continental troops. He died about 1848 and is buried in the Marion Cemetery on the James Leonard lot; there is no marker on his grave. Albert C. Leonard of Newark, N.Y., is his grandson and has his bayonet he carried during the war". (History of the town of Marion, Wayne County, state of New York, 1795-1937 p18-19).
