Asaph D. Leonard of Auburn, Cayuga Co. in 1830 was born 1801 in West Springfield, Hampden Co., Massachusetts. He was the son of Justin b. 1763, and a 3rd great-grandson of John Leonard of Springfield. He was living in West Springfield in 1820. Asaph was living in Auburn, Cayuga Co., New York in 1830, a “Proprietor of a Stone Machine Shop”. There was one other man besides himself, age 20-29 living in his home in Auburn in 1830 and one age 10-14. It could have been his brother Christopher. (Note: Our Russell would have been 21-24 in 1830, so there is a chance Russell was living there then).
Asaph married Julia Warden who lived 1806-1836 with whom he had at least four daughters (Catherine, Jane, Eliza, and Satterlee). Asaph married his deceased wife’s sister, Amanda, in 1842. With Amanda he had at least one daughter who died in infancy. Asaph died in 1866 at the age of 64.
