Russell Leonard obituary in South New Berlin Bee July 1903 reads:
"Russell Leonard died at his home in Morris village, Saturday night, July 18, at 10 o'clock. He had been practically helpless for the past two years. Besides a wife, he leaves two sons, F. E. Leonard of Hudson, and W. R. Leonard of Hartwick, and a daughter, Mrs. C. L. Whitcomb of Otego. He was born near Adams, Mass., 81 years ago where he grew to manhood and learned the cotton manufacturing business. He owned and operated cotton mills at Morris and New Berlin back in the '60's and '70's. He was a member of Zion Episcopal church and an esteemed and honored resident of the town."
He was a son of Ebenezer Leonard (1786-1837) and Sarah Miller (1792-1864) of Savoy, MA. Ebenzer was a son of Nehemiah Leonard (1751-1831) and Molly Mary Richmond (1756-1837). Nehemiah was a son of Josiah Leonard (1712-1788) and Hannah Campbell (1712-1793).
