Benjamin Stanton was the father of Parthenia Stanton, wife of Bradford D. Shirley. According to Historical and statistical gazetteer of New York State, Benjamin arrived in Spafford, Onondaga County, New York, in or very soon after 1794.
In 1840 the family was living in Sempronius, less than eight miles from Spafford. Spafford is 35 miles north of Richford, where Parthenia was counted on the 1850 and 1860 census.
