John died at the age of 86 on July 16, 1909. Notice that his will was probated was published in the Waverly Free Press, Oct 1 1909, as follows:
"Surrogate's Court. September 27, 1909. Will of John W. Jacobs, late of Candor, N.Y., admitted to probate and letters testamentary granted to Laura D. Jacobs of Candor, N.Y. Estate, $800."
