Sat., 5/17 Cleaned some more but this time I jollied my pere and frère* in helping me. Finished my work so late that I never arrived over at the hospital. Went to take my bath & gave Ruth her’s but could hardly keep awake long enough to mend Julie’s stocking. Horrid rainy day. (*French mixed with English meaning “father and brother”).
Sun., 5/18 Did not sleep well being so tired but up extra early for my task at hospital. Put in the man’s ward today. Also saw two dressings. Also had chance to see several soldiers who were not wise & are now where they must stay for a while. Spent the afternoon visiting friends in a most wonderful house. Enjoyed the afternoon greatly.
